Norfolk

The new year of 2010 has brought a new twist of events for my life and career. I learned shortly before Thanksgiving that I was vulnerable to deploy. Shortly after my week of leave back in Wisconsin and Illinois, we learned that I was indeed tasked. We have our second baby due in March which has made our deployment preparations particularly hectic. Tabitha has been incredibly supportive and Natalie has been her usual cheerful self. I am incredibly lucky to have such a wonderful family.

We are awaiting our flight to the AOR (area of responsibility). I do not know how I will be getting to my specific location but it will be interesting, I'm sure.

There is a sea of the new digital ABU's (air battle uniform) throughout the AMC terminal. People are playing games on their laptops, talking on their cell phones, or saying their last goodbyes with the few civilians that accompanied their loved ones to this location.
